One Ambassador in 2009. Forty-one vehicles today.

Janvi Tour & Travels began when Rakesh Menaria bought a second-hand Ambassador and parked it outside a Lake Palace Road guesthouse. He drove it himself for four years. Today the company runs 41 vehicles and 47 staff out of Udaipur, and the rule from that first car still holds: the price you are told is the price you pay.

What we do differently

Most Rajasthan "operators" are brokers. They take your booking, mark it up, and hand it to whichever driver is free. You find out which vehicle you actually got at the airport gate. We own every car, employ every driver, and service the fleet in our own workshop on the Chittorgarh road.

Our drivers are salaried. That single decision removes the worst part of travelling in Rajasthan — the unscheduled "government emporium" stop where the driver earns a 20% commission on whatever you are pressured into buying. It costs us money and it is the thing our guests thank us for most.

The people who drive you

Mahendra has driven the Udaipur–Jaisalmer road for eleven years and knows which dhaba past Balotra is safe for a foreign stomach. Kailash speaks enough French to keep a Paris family entertained through Chittorgarh. Bhanwar Singh has never once been late for a 4 am airport pickup in nine years — we have checked.

These are the people the reviews are actually about. We pay them properly, we give them a day off a week, and we do not put them on eighteen-hour driving days, because a tired chauffeur on an Aravalli ghat road is the single biggest safety risk in this industry.

Twelve days across Rajasthan with Mahendra driving. He knew which gate to enter at every fort, when to skip a place, and where to eat. The quote we got in March was the exact amount we paid in November.

Booked at 11 pm for a 5 am airport pickup during a family emergency. Car was at the gate at 4.45. That is the whole review.

Fourteen vehicles for our wedding at Taj Aravali over four days. One coordinator handled everything on WhatsApp and not one guest was left waiting.
