Rajasthan's Festival Calendar: Which Ones Are Worth Planning a Trip Around
By Janvi Tour Udaipur · Published 2026-06-11 · Updated 2026-07-14
Mewar Festival, Pushkar Fair, Teej, Gangaur, Desert Festival and more — dates, what actually happens, and which to skip.
The three worth restructuring a trip for
Gangaur in Udaipur (March/April) — processions of women carrying idols to Gangaur Ghat, the city's own festival and the least commercialised of the big ones.
Pushkar Camel Fair (November) — genuinely extraordinary in its first three days, a livestock market turned carnival. Go early in the week; the last days are pure tourism.
Jaisalmer Desert Festival (February) — folk music on the dunes, and the only time the desert villages come to town.
Book transport before hotels
During Pushkar Fair and Diwali, vehicles run out before rooms do in this state. Every year we turn away enquiries in the second week of November because the fleet was committed in August.
